MAL PAIS / NICOYA IDEAS
!Hola!
Looking for ideas on a 7-day/8-night itinerary focused on Nicoya Penninsula, particularly in the South. This is our fifth trip to CR, but we've never spent time in Nicoya aside from a few days in Tamarindo a decade ago. Flying in/out of Liberia (due to freq flier miles). Renting a 4x4. Any suggestions on how to burn our seven days? We are not surfers, but are definitely focused on beach time: paddle boarding, swimming, snorkel, book and a chair. R&R. We are late 40s. Prefer boutique beachside hotels to gigante resorts. Any suggestions? !Gracias! Sass |
In particular, looking for the best two or three TOWNS to book our hotel in (and any hotel suggestions), and any activities that may come to mind. Was originally thinking of starting in Montezuma, but I think that may be too far. Our plane lands at 3pm on a Friday in Liberia, so we want to drive 2, maybe 3 hours at most that day.

I have not been to this area, but Nosara, Samara areas get good reviews. If we ever go to CR again, these will be on our radar.

Thanks Michelle.

Ylang Ylang in Montezuma always seems to get rave reviews. We haven't been to this area yet. Several of our guides have mentioned that it isn't as lush and green as the areas we're used to. I'd love to hear what you think when you get back. I know Samara is really popular as well like Michelle mentioned.

Thanks for your comments.
We've decided on three nights in Samara @ the Hideaway, four nights in Santa Teresa Malpais @ the Hotel Tropico Latino. And the last night I think in Sugar Beach (somewhere close to Liberia airport). Will post trip report later. :) |
I've always thought the Hideaway Hotel looks great. People always seem to like it. Looking forward to your report.

Forgot to mention Casa Chameleon - that one has been on my radar for a while. I think it's quite pricey though.

Yes! Report back. Interested in hearing about these destinations.
