Between these two, Villas Nicolas. It's is a smaller complex; therefore less people and the pool is easily accessible. Built on the side of the mountain, many of the units require several flights of stairs to access so be aware if steps are a problem for you. I don't believe their restaurant is open during the off season (you don't mention when you're visiting) but Si Como No is located next door and has restaurants, bar etc. Other accommodations you might consider is Mango Moon and Costa Verde. Safe travels to you!

thanks for the info....is there anything that would sway you from staying at ElParque???? I have nothing against VNic, but just wondering why one would be better than the other(?). I agree that Mango Moon looks very sweet...just a little pricey. Incidentally, Costa Verde is not greatly reported on (Trip Advisor)!!! Do appreciate your input!

I don't know about tripadvisor, but if you do a search here on fodors you'll find a lot of great reviews on Costa Verde. I've stayed there twice and think it's a great, reasonably priced place to stay. The studio plus views, especially, are incredible.

Villas Nicolas and Villas del Parque were owned by the same people in the past , sister hotels so to speak ...... Since then , Villas Nicolas has stayed with the same ownership , but not the other(Parque ) . Villas el Parque is a bit run down looking (imho) , a jumble of different facades as condo. owners can change them as they please (some units are sold as condos ) ..... It is a shame because the views are unbeatable . Villas Nicolas is very , very , sweet .... We also stayed at Costa Verde , a bigger complex than Nicolas for sure , Nicolas almost has a " Boutique Hotel " feel .... We liked Costa Verde and have no complaints , although if rumors that they still feed the monkeys are true , I think that would be terrible . Villas Nicolas is next to Si Como No , just down the road from Cafe Milagro , Barba Roja , the bank machine , and just a few steps from Villas del Parque as well ...... I would stay at Villas Nicolas . ( do you have children travelling with u ? ) And yes , there are still loads of other choices .....

Appreciate the info, Faithie,...I'm heading over to your end of the world on Wed. (St. John's Nfld) for a long overdue visit with my brother...really looking forward to it....anyhow, please feel free to make any additional suggestions (I am booking with VNic) - was originally staying for four nights. Do you think that's enough? and any restaurant recommendations????
thanks much

Go down the road to Barba Roja ( opposite Hotel Divisimar ) , it's about a 4-5 min. walk from V.N. , this is a super place to watch the fireflys on the lawn and look at the sunset for " sunset drinks " . Then walk down the steep little driveway just nextdoor for a great meal at Karolas .....After a day at the beach walk over to Cafe Milagro ( next to Divisimar ) for yummy cold concoctions ...... !!!!!Our meals were also great at Anaconda ( Hotel Costa Verde ) and at El Gato Negro ( Hotel Casitas Eclipse )
