Luxury Link
Off to Argentina & Chile later this year and decided to include Peru. Luxury Link have a great package on auction for 8 days in Peru. Has anyone been successful at purchasing their dream trip at a big discount? If so, was it good luck or did you have a bidding strategy? Tks in anticipation.

Hi-I've purchased a couple of packages off of LL in the last couple of years. Used them for 5 nights in Costa Rica last summer. It's always worked out just fine. No bidding strategy. Just set yourself a limit.
I've found that most packages repeat themselves. So if you get outbid, just wait and it will show up again, sometimes the next day.If no one has bid on the package and it's the last day of the auction, it's a pretty safe bet you'll get it for the lowest price, but keep your eye on your bid until it closes, because you can get outbid. One caveat, not all packges are a great deal; do the research and look at the hotel's websites to see if it really is a savings. BTW, I've been looking at those Peru packages for the last 2 years. They seem like a good deal if the price doesn't go up too much. I've been wanting to do the 6 night package myself. |
Hi Kristina-tks a lot for your reply. I costed the package out and have my limit so gingers crossed. Tks again.

Lyndie,
I've used LL for a number of great trip, Haciendas in the Yucatan, a great B & B in Savannah and trips to Prague and Venice last Christmas...I highly recommend them. My best deal was the first one to Mexico...Incredible, 7 nights at very luxurious accomodations (all part of Starwood's Luxury Collection) for $700 inculding all taxes, room upgrades, several meals and other additions. I wish I could buy it again! Here's my 2 cents... Check with LL or the property re availability for example on the Peru trip they have concierge service which means you can call them (LL)and ask about availability as you may have to be flexible on your dates...always best to check the lay of the land before you bid although you can't hold anything. Bid at the last minute...otherwise you're just bidding it up in advance...be prepared...if several people are bidding at the end of the auction the auction can go on beyond the time limite...see the rules on this. Sometimes the properties are flexible and sometimes they're not eg: in the Yucatan they let us book for several days after the deadline because although we were going into a higher season it was still very quiet. In Venice the Xmas/New Years was blacked out...but they were happy to let us stay any day from Jan 1 although technically it was meant to be blacked out through Jan 5th. In my experience I've had no problem contacting the properties and asking about the terms and conditions. Make sure you check the previous bidding page to see what it has gone for before...sometimes packages go up and then down, just because someone paid alot for it last week doesn't mean it will go for the same this week. Also bear in mind that sometimes the base price goes up for example the base price on the Riverside in Prague is now far more than I paid for it last year. One last thing I have always found that we have been very well treated as LL guests and that the hotels highly value their business even thoug you may be getting a deal. Interestingly in Mexico we discovered from the manager that at the local properties they had no idea what we had paid. I hope this helps and good luck. |
Hi welltraveledbrit-tks for the info. I'll know tomorrow. Will post the outcome. Much appreciate the information & responses from you and Kristina.

Just an update-the price was over my budget so I'll keep trying! Thanks again!
