Lunata -- garden view room too noisy?

I'm looking to stay somewhere small, quiet, and pretty on the mexican carribean coast. I've heard Lunata is ovely, but noisy if you are on 5th Avenue. But what about the rooms overlooking the garden? Are they too noisy too?

We only stayed there one night (we were on our way from Belize to the Cancun airport). Anyway, our room was on 5th, I heard one mariachi band go by, but other than that, it wasn't noisy at all.

The continental breakfast was pretty much a joke. White bread, coffee and juice.

If that isn't a big deal, I liked the place. The garden is lovely.

Thanks Jean H! Did you happen to notice how the beach was?

I think it was last September when I was last in Playa del Carmen. The beach was lovely. I hear the bus south of town, in the Playacar area has eroded away. I only walked as far north as the hotel that used to be Porto Real (I know the name has changed, I can't recall what it is now). Anyway, the beach there was awesome.

Playa's a lovely town, but has grown to where it's no on my 'list' of places to spend time any more.

If you want quiet, look at Tulum. Awesome beach front cabanas.

I also hear good things about Akumal, but haven't been.

And I'll take the time to plug my personal favorite in the area, Isla Mujeres. Cute little town, nice beach (can't compete with Tulum though), lots of hotel options and very affordable.

I stayed at the Lunata in a garden view room, which was supposed to be quiet. It wasn't. It was a lovely hotel and the staff was great. So helpful I could hardly believe it. But the rooms are very noisy. At about 8pm - 10 pm a blues bar across the street starts up. There is also lots of noise from the street if you happen to stay on the town side. If you read this and you're looking for quiet, be forewarned.
