Los Ninos Hotel - Cusco
 

Hi Fodorites,

Our plan for our Peru trip is slowly coming together, thanks to many helpful posts on this Board!

We're considering staying at Los Ninos in Cusco. It seems to have generally good reviews and they were very prompt in responding to my inquiry.

My only concern is this... they just take your email confirmation to reserve. No credit card number. No deposit. I'm probably just being paranoid, but I have to admit that makes me nervous.

Anyone have any experience with Los Ninos and experience a problem with this?

Also, it looks like we'll be staying in Ninos II - any comments on that location versis Ninos I would be greatly appreciated! Thanks oodles! --Carrie

I stayed at Los Nino's in 2004 and didn't have any trouble at all. I did as you said and just reserved with an e-mail. Nino's two wasn't finished when I was there although our taxi did take us there by mistake. It's not right next to Los Nino's. I really enjoyed my stay. They give you tea as soon as you arrive and they offer a nice breakfast. It's not included but very reasonable. Have fun

I like the place. It's a lodging with a conscience, and the profits go to good causes.

They don't take credit cards, period, so they'd have no way to process a reservation that way. You realize you'll need to pay your room bill in cash, I hope.

The only negative, and it's not too much of one, is that you're about a 10-minute walk from either location to the Plaza de Armas, where all the action is. The neighborhood is okay, but beyond heading south starts to get just a bit more dicey. It's fine to walk during the day, but I would take a taxi to and from after dark.

Does anyone have Los Ninos' email address? I tried using their website, filling out a form, and it's been a week and I've heard nothing. Would like to try directly emailing them.
