Los Cabos Snorkeling

I'll be going to Los Cabos in the first full week of February. Will the water be warm enough to snorkel?

Dear Mike:

No, I personally don't think the water at that time of year is warm enough. At least compared to Hawaii or the Caribbean. We went on a Pez Gato snorkle trip last Feb. The boat and trip were great, but the water was COLD. We only stayed in the water about 20 minutes and never got back in again.

Good luck and have fun.

If you're from Canada or Norway it will seem warm enough. If you're from Florida, not so much ...

I think off-shore the surface water temps are usually 68-72 F that time of year (we keep track of that for fishing), so warmer in the shallows but still maybe too chilly for many people.

Thank you for both responses.

Went to Cabo in early Feb a few years ago and did NO water sports - water was too cold for us. Went to Loreto this year in February thinking the water would be warmer in the Sea of Cortez - wrong. Still too cold for us.

Too cold for you? Guess it depends on where you are from. We live in the East and are used to the waters in the Caribbean. Others were from the states of Oregon and Washington and they did not find the Loreto waters too cold for them to do some watersports.
