Los Cabos or Cabo San Lucas

Looking for a get away for 4 days but know very little about either place. I know people love going to Cabo but never know which Cabo they mean.. Mexico is not high on our vacation list but thought we would try it for a few days in late January or early February. We enjoyed going to Cancun area once for a destination wedding but that is too far for a short visit. Takes all day to get there. We like resorts with good pool, ocean views, restaurants, gym but really don't care if it is "party place". Recommendations?

Los Cabos is a term that covers the entire area... the airport, town of San Jose del Cabo, the tourist "Corridor" with the resorts, and then the town of Cabo San Lucas.

Basically 3 different areas are covered by the term.

If you want to be near a town, then Medano Beach in Cabo has nice resorts and hotels. If you want a large resort property (All Inclusive or not) and don't want to go to town or don't mind a taxi ride, then the Corridor might suit you.

I'm not familiar with San Jose del Cabo personally but it's known to be a bit quieter and more laid back and also features a small downtown area with resorts out along the coast/ocean/beach.

ps- When people say just "Cabo" most likely they are referring to the town of Cabo San Lucas... Medano Beach, the Marina, etc.

Suze is correct. Check a map of Los Cabos to get an idea of the layout. We stay in either CSL or San Jose and like both. Never have stayed out on the corridor.
