Los cabos in January
We are an Australian family of 4 wanting to travel to Mexico for some warm weather before heading north.our kids are aged 10 and 8. We have been recommended les ventanas, one palmilla but are finding $1000 plus per night a bit too expensive. I am looking for a good high end resort, not too big, a good beach( maybe swim able),all recommendations would be appreciated. I have read about welk resort, sirena del mar. Does anyone know of this? Please help as I think we need to book as January is your peak time.

The Hilton's not in the same class as the others you describe, but it's a good family resort on a swimmable beach. It has good reviews on Tripadvisor.
You may also check rates at Esperanza, beautiful place, not swimmable though. And the Welk resort looks like a great family place with nice, big rooms and views. Again, great reviews on TA, not swimmable though. |
Look at Pueblo Bonito Blanco or Rose or Villa del Palmar. These are right on Medano Beach, the main water sports and swimmable beach in CSL. They are also very kid friendly and a better price point. If you are looking at a week, look at renting someone's timeshare at one of these places. Check redweek or TUG for timeshare rentals.

when will the peak time drop off...When does school go back?
is the welk resort a Hilton? |
I don't think the Welk resort is a Hilton, no.
Its full name is the Welk resort Sirena del Mar. |
Peak in Cabo does not drop off until March or April. Kids ago back to school right after New Years.

Hilton hotel on the corridor is perfect if you like to swim with your kids on the ocean and the hotwl is first class.
The one I like the most is El Ganzo hotel by the new marina Puerto Los Cabos, is a very chic and contemporay hotel, with very nice swimmable beach, close to San Jose Del Cabo, the mexican town in Cabo. In Cabo San Lucas any of the hotel by Medano beach are great as well. Saludos |
