Looking for quiet resort in Mexico - March
 

Hello. I am looking for a quiet resort in Mexico during March. I definietly want a nice, relaxing beach area and good food, but I'm not concerned about night life. I've never been to Mexico but I am looking at resorts in Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and a few others, but I'm very open. I just need to get away! Thanks for any help you can give.

Try Sunscape Tulum, Club Maeva Tulum, Copacabana. These are AIs. By "resort" is that what you meant?

If you are looking for something a little different, try Kailuum II. It is quiet, has fantastic food, and is a quick drive to Playa in case you feel the need to go there. Capitan Lafite is next door to Kailuum II, and would be a good alternative if you don't want to sleep in a tent on the beach (although it was great).

Check out the Iberostar all-inclusive resorts in Playa del Carmen. We stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach resort which is about 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen. It's a beautiful, very large resort with a fabulous beach, huge pool and good food. You never have to leave if you don't want to. My husband says he was the most relaxed he has ever been away from home while there. You can book tours to the sights right from the resort if you want to check the area out. With the blizzard in full force here on the Cape, I wish we were there soaking up the sun right now!!! Happy planning, Jayne

Try Xpu-Ha on the Mayan coast. Excellent food, great hammocks on the balconies and pretty beach. No night life to speak of so would definitely be quiet.

A quiet "resort" in Cozumel is Sol Cabanas del Caribe. It is very low-key, great beach and snorkeling, restaurant and pool. It is not a fancy resort but they have amenities and will arrange for any tour you might want. There are cabanas (where we stayed) and a motel-type unit. We loved the Cabana....out the door and you are on the beach. We rented a car so we explored lots of beaches. It is a short cab ride into town for restaurants, shopping.

Do the resorts you mention NOT have spring breakers?

I don't know if you are open to Puerto Vallarta but there is a place called Casa Obelisco located about 45 minutes from P. Vallarta it sounds so beautiful I wanted to go in March also but the people we are traveling with only wanted to go to P.Vallarta for a week. Go to trip advisor.com or just tyrpe in Casa Obelisco on the internet and you can check it out sounds what you are looking for. Also for Playa del Carmen there are 2 very luxurious hotels that are all inclusive they are Royal Hideaway seems to be rather quiet there and Secrets Excellence Good Luck! I usually travel to P. Vallarta in March so I know the weather is great this year we are going on April 2.

Fodors reccomends Ceiba del Mar as a quiet and peaceful resort. It looks very nice.

We rented a house on the Pacific side 2 years ago in the village of San Francisco (San Pancho). I think it was about a 40 minute drive north of Vallarta. There was a resort right down the beach called Costa Azul. We were amazed at how few people were on this incredible stretch of beach. The village is (or was) very quiet. Totally not touristy, but very friendly. I don't know how much activity you need for a trip, but this sure was quiet and relaxing for us. We found plenty of restaurants, although I know Vallarta has some excellent ones.

Give Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa a look-see to see if it might be what you are looking for. Excellent beaches, wide variety of reasonabaly priced restaurants, hotels for every taste and budget, and very peaceful. I've lived here for over 15 years and I love it more every day! =)

You may want to try the Los Cabos area. Esperanza and Palmilla are two very gorgeous and quiet resorts. You feel like royalty staying there without having to dress the part. Casual yet elegant. Prices are steep and availability may be an issue but well worth every penny.
