Looking for nice hotel in PV
Hi

My husband and I are looking for an upper scale hotel in Puerto Vallarta. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Do you want to stay close to town, in Nuevo, or a neighboring town? That makes a big difference. There is a Four Seasons somewhere around PV (not sure where) but it is a ways from the city, so I personally would not stay there (even if I could afford it!). The Camino Real is very popular and a very nice hotel (and a nice thing about it is that there is NO timeshare there, and NO all inclusive!)and just a short cab ride into town. Maybe others have more suggestions, but I would stay at the Camino.

Thanks for the reply. It doesn't matter if it is loccated right in the city, or outside.

Has anyone been to Majahuitas or the Westin?

Thanks

If you want "NICE" go to Hacienda Cora/puerto vallarta at the MSN or whatever search you use. Don't use the address bar up top. Trust me on this! You'll get LUXURY listings there. Wish I could afford any of those but, alas, I'm at a condo downtown:Which is just fine, by the way.
But, Hacienda Cora is really NICE!
Best to you on your trip. Let me hear from you.
Vince: [email protected]

Toured the Westin. Beautiful hotel in the marina area, but it is very contemporary and did not feel very Mexican to me (which I like when going to PV!). Has excellent pool areas, not much beach. I heard they are trying to make a man-made beach before high season, not sure if that is true. Don't know anything about the other hotel you mentioned.

The Four Seasons is in Punta Mita about 1 hour north of Puerto Vallarta. Camino Real is 5-10 mins. further south from the south part of PV. It's hard to answer your question because "upper scale hotel" can mean such different things to different people.

Casa Magna Marriott in The Marina is certainly a very nice property, in a beautiful big normal resort kind of way.

Nuevo Vallarta is the area that has most of the new and fancier places, golf, etc. It is about 1/2 hour outside of downtown to the north.

You won't find really high-end places within Puerto Vallarta proper. Even the most charming and lovely places are more "Mexican" style and probably not quite what you have in mind.

Majahuitas is located south of PV, you can only reach it by boat. Check out this site http://pub69.ezboard.com/ftodopuertovallartafrm1?page=1 for info as I know someone posted a trip report on this resort. Sounds really nice, however quite isolated. If you are comfortable with that, I'd check it out.
