The above links are managers and owners of apartments in Rio, most people rent for the short term, tell them you are interested in long term and see what they can do. The below link among other things has the links to the local newspapers, find the apartment real estate section and find what is good for you.

Thank you so much for the info.Any recommendations for the best location for a 25 year old PHD student doing thesis research?

Dondiega Oct 6th, 2003 06:10 PM

Well that depends upon what your thesis is on. LOL. Ipanema and Leblon is the best place to stay near the beach. Leblon is more residential and you may want to take a look at Leme also. Copacabana is more honky tonk. I do believe that if you are American there is a 3 month limit on your stay in the country but there may be some loop holes on this but you may want to consult an expert in that area first if you haven't done so already.

Hey friend, take care about what agent u r gonna deal. I'm from Rio (and not an agent!), if u want any info about here, just email me (at [email protected]), it will be a pleasure to help.
The best places r Ipanema and Leblon, no doubt about it...
