Lodging in Placencia

My wife and I are travelling to Belize in late January, and I am trying to decide between the following hotels in Placenia area:

Luba Hati
Singing Sands
Kitty's Place
Rum Point Inn

I wanted the feel of a comfortable boutique hotel with cabanas on the beach. Turle Inn is too expensive so I'm looking for something similar but under $200 per night.

Has anyone stayed at these places? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

We were just in Placencia last week and stayed at Singing Sands. We were looking for something under $100/night. We did have a cabana right on the beach and there was a pool. Plus we pretty much had the place to ourselves because there were only 2 other guests.

It was decent for the price but I wouldn't really consider it to be comparable in style to something like the Turtle Inn or a boutique hotel.

I think if you have a little more to spend the other three would be better choices. But I don't have any firsthand knowledge about them except that Kitty's Place looked nice from the outside.

Have fun - Belize is great.

I've stayed at them all and I've re-visited all of them except Singing Sands fairly recently (in July).

I'd rate them this way:

1. Luba Hati -- classy joint, beautifully designed, but it's under new ownership and it's not yet clear how things are going, probably pretty well

2. Kitty's Place -- an old favorite, the beachfront cabanas have been updated and are excellent

3. Rum Point Inn -- used to be a fine place but it's gone down hill of late; still a beautiful beach setting

4. Singing Sands -- okay

Luba Hati is probably your best bet for what you want. I'd personally choose Kitty's but it's definitely not a "boutique hotel."

I am leaning towards Kitty's Place. It seems to have nice grounds and more natural style cabanas. Don't get me wrong, It doesn't have to be fancy. More like a funky, clean, laid back, local flavor type of place. Also, is Kitty's location good compared to Luba Hati's for accessing the village and tours?

And have you seen Kitty's new pool. I heard its ready?

I appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

We stayed at Rum Point a couple of years ago. Went to Kitty's for lunch and decided that if we ever went back there we would stay at Kittys's.

No, Kitty's pool wasn't in when I was there. It'll be a good addition, though.

Kitty's is closer to Placencia village than Luba Hati, but it's still a pretty good hike. I usually have a car when I'm in Placencia, but for me it too far to walk, except maybe once just to check out the beach. It's about a $5 cab ride.

It sounds like it will be Kitty's Place, unless you think there is another hotel in that area like it that I'm not aware of. Thanks again.

The pool is open and you'll be realy happy at Kittys.
