Lodging and Tour Guide in Quito

Any recommendations for a tour guide in Quito, Ecuador? And any favorite hotels or apartments? We'll be there for a week in July.

Two really wonderful hotels in Quito - Cafe Cultura in the Mariscal and the PAtio Andaluz in the Old City.

I have stayed at both properties and enjoyed both.

When we were there a year and a half ago, we used a wonderful tour guide, Carmen Bayas. Her e-mails are [email protected] and [email protected].

Are you planning to spend a week in Quito or will you be visiting other areas in Ecuador? There are some interesting areas that are only a couple of hours away from Quito - the cloud forest near Mindo to the north and Cotapaxi and the Avenue of the Volcanoes to the south.

Thank you for the hotel advice and guide advice. Really appreciate it. We are planning 10 days in Ecuador, with 4-5 at the Sacha Lodge, probably at the end. We had thought to base ourselves in Quito for the first 5-6 days exploring the city and environs. I would be most appreciative of your suggestions on highlights.

Me and a friend is planning to head down to Quito for the first time. She is Hispanic but don't speak Spanish fluently. We are wondering what is the best place to stay and sites to see. We are planning on going down there in May for about 4-5 days.

Gulliver tour guide: gulliver.com.ec. They own a hostel one hour outside the city to stay and start a day long horseback riding session from. Loved it.

I stayed at two hotels, the Swisshotel for a wedding (typical luxury hotel) and Hotel Los Alpes, a much cuter and quaint hotel for almost half the price. If I had more time, I would have gone back to Hotel Los Alpes after the Swisshotel because it didn't feel like every other hotel I've stayed at in the states.
