It isn't necessary to hire a limo before you arrive in Argentina. After you leave customs, right outside the roped area, there is a private car (Remi) service dispatching area. We paid $18USD at the counter and the person called a driver who came to the counter and escorted us to his car. It was very easy and safe. I think there are two different car services there, but they are both fine.

If vans are not available, for $18 per taxi you could take two taxis (which would probably be less expensive than a van). In any event, you do not have to reserve in advance.

we were just in BsAs a couple of weeks ago. There really is no need to pre-hire a car--after you get out of customs, there are desks selling transportation services. the vans they are are rather small--driver + 3 passengers and our luggage and we were at capacity. Cost: 75 pesos (or approx 25 bucks). The cost of a regular taxi (small car) was 55 pesos (aroud $18). With 4 passengers, its probably more comfortable to just get two cars.

be forewarned, the airport is quite a distance from the areas where most people stay. with traffic, the ride could last 45min to an hour!

Also, don't be scared when your car doesn't stay in its lane--they all drive like that and they do know what they were doing. it can be a white-knuckle experience, but its not bad once you get used to it.
