Liberia Airport question
1. Has anyone rented a car from the Liberia airport and know the hours of the car rental agencies? Since its a small airport, I'm wondering if they have limited hours. We would be arrived about 6:30 p.m. We would depart at the end of our trip at 7:00 a.m.
2. Is there transportation from the Liberia airport into a hotel in Liberia, ie. taxi, shuttle, etc.? We were thinking of the Best Western, since we'd only be staying one night, and it is close to the airport. Thanks in advance. |
You won't have any trouble finding transportation into Liberia. There will be taxis available for a small charge. The Best Western is a good choice for Liberia. You'll be able to find fast food as well as typical Costa Rican restaurants here as well.
Not sure about the hours, but there are several rental agencies in Liberia near the airport. We especially like Dollar and have had good luck using them on several occasions. I'd suggest you go to dollarcostarica.com and contact them through e-mail. They are very good to reply and have always been very helpful with any questions we have had. I'm sure Payless, Budget, Adobe, or some of the others would be equally helpful. |
Are there flights between the Osa Peninsula and Liberia Airport? Also, how far is the airport from Flamingo Beach area?
|
All flights to the Osa originate in San Jose. Liberia airport to Playa Flamingo an hour to an hour and a half.
Hi Pumpy! |
Hello- Sounds like you are on the Continental flights. My husband and I are flying the same route next month and had the same questions. We are heading out to the Playa Grande/Tamarindo area from Liberia. I was unable to find any rental car company that was open that late. Also, we were a little bit nervous about the hour-long drive to Tamarindo in the dark, so we booked a shuttle service through centralamerica.com from the airport in Liberia to Tamarindo. It's not too expensive and I'm sure they could arrange transportation to Playa Flamingo as well. Then we are picking up a 4x4 rental car in Tamarindo the next day and returning the car in Liberia on our return-same rate as if we had picked up in Liberia. Centralamerica.com also arranged the rental car and we got a great green season discount. They have been a pleasure to work with so far. We are also planning to stay at the Best Western the night before our return, as 7:00 am is very early and I've heard we need to be at the airport almost 2 hours ahead of time. Centralamerica.com recommended the BW hotel and that is where we are returning our car the night before we fly home, then getting a taxi from hotel to airport in the A.M. Hope this helps you out! Enjoy your trip.

If you email Adrian at Adobe Rent a car he will be there to greet you.
[email protected] He has supplied great service to myself and hundreds of clients over the last 6 years.I drove to Tamarindo last week and I do have to warn you about the terrible potholes and they are tough to spot at night. Just go slow. it's only 1 1/2 hrs from the airport and the roads are well marked. Private transportation can also be arranged for about -$60 Good Luck Michael |
