LGBT travel in Costa Rica

Any special resources for a group of senior LGBT folks traveling to Costa Rica?

I don't know of any special resources out there, but you'll be fine. CR is a pretty popular destination for lgb folks -- probably t too, but I don't know :-) It shouldn't really be a big concern, honestly.

I usually do a little litmus test with a hotel when I make reservations initially. I just state matter of factly that I'm looking for a room for me and my partner, then sign the email with both our names. If we get a response, then I assume they're fine -- if not, not. It's been a good way to tell if our business is wanted.

plum, have there been places that didn't respond to you?

Yeah, I've had a couple places not get back to me. But, I think we all have, so there's no way to know why for sure -- but, overwhelmingly, I've never had a problem.

I just remembered, here's another website I've used a bit, the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association: http://www.iglta.org If you scroll down and use their Travel Search form and select Costa Rica, you get a list of travel companies, hotels, etc. that are listed with them. I'm sure there's a membership fee so just because a business doesn't appear here doesn't mean anything obviously, but it's a start.

We stayed several years ago at Villas Nicolas in MA and while we were there, I believe we might have been the only heterosexual couple there. I believe they advertise on some Gay sites. have you seen this site?

plum, that stinks, but it sounds like you found a good way to handle it.
