Leaving luggage in car on ferry...

I've heard plenty of warnings not to leave personal belongings in rental cars while in CR. Is that true for the ferry as well? Should you carry your luggage with you for the crossing? Thanks again for all of your help and advice.

I never have been in Costa Rica however I learnt the hard way NEVER leave unattended luggage in a car.
Times have changed....all over the world.

I don't think this is a problem; we made this trip and to be honest, I never even thought about it. The cars were so crammed together in the hold that it would be hard to get to them and in addition, I believe there were crew members down there or at least controlling access to the hold. Enjoy the trip; you get to see things you can't see otherwise!

You luggage will be fine in the car while on the ferry. Just lock the door. The vehicles are parked on the deck and if you are really worried, you can keep an eye on it from the cabin or on the deck. There are plenty of people around to deter any theves

If you're worried, you can stay in your car on the ferry. Only one person can be in the car when it takes off, but once the boat got moving, we got back in and took a nap in the car. It was a great nap w/ all that gentle rocking of the boat! There were other people in their cars too.
