Hi, these two hotels are very different. L'Auberge is a boutique quaint hotel in the middle of a huge garden with a big pool surrounded by pine trees and flowers.A private bar for drinks or light lunch. It is more like an European hotel, each room or suite is different and service is very good. Location: It is located near the beach a couple of blocks away and a car is a must because it is not located in downtown Punta del Este. Its location is very good because people in Punta del Este tend to go everyday to a different beach looking each day for the best conditions and because part of the fun seems to wonder about. As I said a car is a must, but this is true no matter where you plan to stay in my opinion a car is a must.
The Conrad is more of an American Hotel, kind of a smaller version of a 1960 Miami Hotel. It is near a beach too, and much closer to the downtown Punta area. It has a casino, shows, etc, it is a higher buiding, its location could afford not to have a car, although
I believe that in order to feel Punta a car is a must.
Of course the AUberge is a smaller than the Conrad. The AUberger is older than the Conrad who has been recently built.

Thanks for the comments... I still do not know wich one, however, the L'Auberge sounds quiet and nice.

If you are flying into Buenos Aires International Airport (EZE) don't forget your American Express card. If you have one, there is a really nice VIP louge with internet access and drinks (soda, beer, wine and cocktails) and comfy chairs. It's all free if you show your AmEx card at the door! All ages are welcome. It's over passed the duty free by the United gates.

You are right ahdzp, for restaurant tips in BUenos Aires, go to any bookstore in that city and get a copy of the little restaurant guide book called Los Recomendados, it is both in Spanish and English. Written by two women journalists, one and architect, it is an objective list, very well organized , of the best places to eat.
All range of prices and not for tourists only but for locals too.
It comes out each year and it cost is
aprox 6-7 dollars only.

Ok, we are going for 3 days and plan to stay at L'Auberge with visits to the casino and shows of the Conrad.

Graziella5b, thanks for your comments.

Hope you have a great time. Keep in mind that the best possible activity in Punta is going to the beach. Choosing the one that is perfect for the day
weather wise, and also if you like some fun, that is "in". I suppose the people inthe Auberge can help you. The owners are very nice people.
March is the end of the season so I not sure of other activities like shows, art exhibits etc. Casinos of course are always on. Sports like sailing, fishing,
golf, horse riding, tennis etc always on.
