Latest first hand info on arenal lava viewing angle?
 

Ok, before you point me to arenal.net, their information is dated back to July. I've searched for information on where the lava is flowing most recently, but have not found it. I can assume that the view has not changed since it moved in March to the North, but would like confirmation.

Anybody returned from there recently and view the lava? We are staying at Tabacon (November) and would like to know if we will be in the viewing angle (hopefully not cloudy the whole time).

So please do tell if you've seen it, and from where.

The most recent info I have is the last week in May. I could see it from my hotel Arenal Paraiso, which I believe is the NE side. I believe people have reported seeing it from the Lost Iguana as well, which I think is NNW. Wouldn't hurt to maybe e-mail the hotels you're looking at and asking, hopefully they will give you an honest answer.

I didn't send an email or ask the hotels about lava views as I can't see them telling me it is not visible...I did post on arenal.net but never got a response.

So hopefully someone who recently visited there will see this posting, or perhaps a trip report.

Either way we'll find out when we get there!

Was there within the past month and I hope you have better luck than I did. Was there for 3 nights and never saw more than 75% of Arenal because of clouds. From what I could tell, the flow is the same as it has been for the past 6 months, which is north side. We had an awesome time in LaFortuna area, but wish the clouds would have parted. Hope they do for you.

THanks ewesthoff, I understand that green season is the worst time to get the clouds to part in arenal...perhaps in November we will get lucky.

What tours did you do in arenal? The canopy and ziplines? La Fortuna waterfalls? Those are two I expect we will do.

I don't know, I think Arenal must attract clouds around its peak during both seasons. We've had as much luck viewing it in its entirety in July as we did in December. For minutes, usually. Never have had one of those cloudless perfection moments some have captured on film! Gee, guess we've gotta keep going up there in hopes of that perfect view! :)
