Last minute question
And I hope it isn't a stupid one, but it probably is. Sorry about that!
Do we need to carry our passports with us while we're out and about in CR? One of my traveling companions thought that we did. It seemed a little odd to me to take my passport on the Cano Negro tour, or hiking, or at the Hanging Bridges, etc. Thanks-- Phyllis |
No, but it helps to keep a copy on you, just in case. Put the original in the hotel safe.
|
Thanks! That's what I thought!
|
Yep, that will work just fine.
|
Just keep a copy of the picture/data page and the entry stamp page with you and leave the passport in the hotel safe.
In one of the hotels we stayed at they even had a note in our room that we should keep passports locked in the safe and only carry a copy as it is allowed by the government due to theft issues. |
We just got back, we never needed a copy of our passports for anything, and except when we were traveling from Arenal to Jaco, etc., I never even had the copies with us.
|
Cool. This is all really helpful. Thanks again!!!
|
The law is that you have to carry ID with you at all times. It used to be that it had to be the original, but a copy of your passport is sufficient these days. Whether or not you'll ever be asked for it is another question, but if you are, you'll have it.

I know that you are right Jeff, I even asked a question before we left about that, and then I never gave it a second thought. Thankfully, we were never contacted.
