Last details - trip that is about to start

Hi everybody,

Our trip to Mexico starts next week (2 adults, 2 kids, ages of 5 and 1).

I would like some advice about specific topics:

a) transportation between Leon Airport and Guanajuato City (is there a bus or a transfer direct from the airport?)

b) transportation between Queretaro City and Mexico City airport (easier way to get there)

b) safety situation right now in Mexico (due to the "gasolinazo");

c) best spot nowadays to convert dollars in mexican peso at Mexico City airport (is Banco IXE at the airport still a good option?);

Thank you!

c) Do you have a bank debit card? It's always better to withdraw peso from a bank ATM machine than "convert dollars" on the ground.

There are buses from Leon to Gto for something like 350 mxp if I recall. 2 of us took a taxi for a negotiated 500 mxp.

There is no bus from BJX to Guanajuato. To take a bus from Leon to Guanajuato, you'd first need to take an authorized taxi from the airport to the bus station for about $400. Then the bus to Guanajuato bus station. Then taxi to Guanajuato centro. Why buy bus tickets for 4 people when BJX's website shows authorized taxi's to GTO centro to be $440? Doesn't make sense. Nor does more than doubling your transit time.
The $440 quoted might not be up to date, but it should be close. Take the taxi.

I always get pesos from a bank ATM in Mexico as well. Easy, convenient, best exchange rate.

Thank you! I will take the taxi to Guanajuato but withdrawing the money from the ATM machine is not na option, because I have already the dollars in cash.

Take a cab. with the peso over 21 to a dollar it is a bargain to GTO from BJX.

Urge you to rethink the dollar thing. It is getting harder & harder to exchange dollars to pesos in Mexico. Many banks no longer do so. Even those that will limit amounts hours of exchange & passport is required. The Exchange shops will beat you up over the exchange rate as will most hotels & restaurants (if they take them at all). At the least buy pesos at a US bank before coming.
