Pacuare Rafting vs La Paz

I'm very much torn between these two. From what I hear and read, the Pacuare is a must-do, being at the top 5 of best rivers to raft. At the same time, La Paz looks amazing.

If we want to do the Pacuare, then I will have to give up the 2 night stay I had planned at La Paz.

Or I can still stay at La Paz and do a different river in the MA later that week.

Can anyone that has done both offer some insight?

Thanks so much!

Yes Allison, you do have a hard choice.

Not knowing what your schedule looks like. I ask can't you steal a night somewhere else?

The tour operators will pick you up at so many SJ area hotels for a day trip on the Pacuare.

What we did is spent the first 2 nights in SJ, rafting on our first full day. And then our last 2 nights at La Paz.

Keep in mind you can drive to La Paz and tour the waterfalls yourself in a half day.

I had planned 2 nites La Paz, 2 nites Arenal, 4 nites MA and one back in SJ for an early flight.

Or I can start off with 2 nites SJ, 2 Arenal, 4 MA and 1 nite SJ. But I don't think I can squeeze in La Paz in that itinerary. Unless I take one day off MA and add that day to SJ?

There's too much to do down there! CR really needs to be more boring!

What about 2 nights La Paz, 2 Arenal, 3 MA and 2 SJ?
This would get both in. Ending your trip with a day of white water rafting.
