Lan-Chile

Has anyone flown Lan-Chile? This airline is offering great fares to Buenos Aires out of Miami. They have some package deals with hotels included. We have never used it, and would lke to get some opinions.
Thanks,
JL

I think LanChile is the best airline in Latin America.

It is not as good as the best European and Asian carriers but I have had worse flights on Delta and Continental.

If there is a good deal I would go for it. There is nothing wrong with LanChile at all. In fact you may be quite impressed!

Thanks Nylon for your comment.

Hi I agree with Nylon. 'This is an excellent airliner , I have been lucky enough to fly Lan Chile several times in the three possible classes tourist, business and First, where they graciously put us one day the oversold the business. Never had a problem with them , the food is very good too and they are very kind and helpful.
Now check well those packages, sometimes they sound a better deal of what they really are, remember that agencies quote one ticket+ half a hotel room per person.

Thanks Graziella. I will carefully read the fine print of this package deal.

You also might want to make sure that these flights are non stop to BA. Some of the great fares have a stop in Santiago.

You will stop in Santiago if flying from the US to Buenos Aires. But unless you fly some American airlines or alternatively Aerolineas Argentinas you will have to make at least one change anyway. Can't help with an airline flying direct from BA to Miami (Continental maybe?, but you may go via Houston?).

American has a direct flight from MIA/EZE. I believe Southern Winds and Aerolinas Argentina also have direct flights.

Hi, also United flies directly. I do not mind the stop over Santiago, it is well cordinated. I sincerely like Lan.

I'm pretty sure American Airlines fly non-stop Miami to BA. We FLEW NONSTOP roundtrip Wash.DC to BA. Got the best fares ever -total $388.00 ROUNDTRIP ,(INCLUDING all taxes and fee)with United Airlines. We booked through Hotwire.com

Just got back from Peru on LanPeru (owned by LanChile). The service, in the airport and on the plane was very good, but the plane(s) itself was tightly packed with seats. Also, the food could have been better. As noted, European airlines offer the better experience, but for the price, I'm satisfied with LanPeru

Nylon Sep 23rd, 2004 03:27 PM

LanPeru is not as good as LanChile but is getting better.

LanChile is a great Latin American airline. I have used their service several times when flying from Los Angeles to Peru and Santiago. The service is much better than what you get on a US domestic carrier. Make sure to try the wine from Chile it is excellent. I have flown both coach and business on their planes and I have no complaints. LanChile will definitely stop in Santiago if you are flying to Buenos Aires from the US.
