Kuoda Travel Agency

Has anyone used Kuoda Travel for Peru? They have been very helpful, but I can find NOTHING about them using any search engine (other than their own website, of course).

Thanks.

I just got done typing this and remembered seeing this post back when I too was searching for information on Kuoda. I have since used them with great results (see my post below), and thought I should share. It is probably too late for you, but at least others will possibly find this.

Well, back from Peru! Actually, I have been for some time but just realized I never posted my "results" with Kuoda tours. As "qwovadis" pointed out, there are quite a few really great reviews on tripadvisor.com for them, but little here for this company. I feel bad it took me this long to post here after my trip, but Kuoda was truly great! They made all the right decisions on our itinerary based on our input. They made a perfect and extremely memorable journey for us and all guides and drivers were great. I really can't imagine doing this trip with a bigger tour company and hordes of people. We were able to go where we wanted, when we wanted. That said, we did not deviate from our itinerary much at all as it was nearly perfect in my opinion. Mery, the owner, personally touched base with us several times throughout the trip via phone, and then also met us for some drinks while we were in Cusco. On a personal level, I think Mery has to be on my top 10 list of most likeable people in the world! :) She is an extremely genuine person and my wife and I enjoyed talking about all of Kuoda's charity efforts and also Mery's views of Peru as a whole. I really just can't say enough here. There is just a great feeling you get when you spend money with someone who does a great job, loves their job, and uses their position in life to help others. I just felt I had to put this out there for any other fellow fodors posters who might be looking for input on Kuoda in the future.

I too never came back after we did choose to use Kuoda. Unfortunately, I don't have much time now either, but did want to say Mery and her team at Kuoda were the ABSOLUTE BEST!!! They made this the trip of a lifetime and I would be happy to reply to anyone looking to travel to Peru! She will work within your budget and interests to tailor design your trip and, given things like national strikes, mudslides at Machu Picchu, etc - having a great person locally ready to go way out of the way to make sure your trip is perfect was the best choice we ever made!

We're planning a trip to Peru at the end of December and noticed your positive comments about Kuoda Travel. Any suggestions about how to make sure we get the most out of our trip? Any suggestions for our family of 5 and a trip to Machu Picchu and a more personal tour? Our kids are all young adults. While Kuoda Travel and Mery sound like they'd be great to work with, we're interested in knowing if they are still operating and/or if there are other services anyone would recommend based upon recent positive experiences.

I used Kuoda for my trip to Peru this past June.

I found that Kuoda really surpassed all expectation and provided us with an excellent trip. They will work with you to create an itinerary that works for you and your family's needs/wants.

Mery and her team really go the extra distance to make sure that you have a wonderful trip. I highly recommend them.

We're considering taking a Kuoda tour of Peru and would love to know where you all went on your tours and which hotels you stayed at.

Thanks!

We stayed in Lima for two nights at a Casa Andina hotel in Miraflores.

Then we flew up to the Sacred Valley and stayed several nights at the Pakaritampu in Ollantaytambo, a couple of nights at the Hatun Inti in Aguas Calientes and several nights at the Picoaga in Cusco.

Kuoda will customize an itinerary for you, taking into account your likes, dislikes and budget. They will then provide you with a suggested itinerary (including hotel choices) for you to look at. If you would like to make changes to the itinerary, they will assist you until you are happy with it.
