seawitch1,
Having a sleepless night here in Seattle (or Oklahoma rather) so thought I'd catch up with the "back issues" of Fodor's. I've been away from home since June 2 so am just now reading more of your postings. What an interesting trip you guys had! You make it all sound like such fun, and I know it was. Isn't it amazing how, when in CR, you can always count on some unusual happenings that make great stories to tell at home?! Liked the one of your late day at the park--the ending so typical: the helpfulness and the wild ride and stopping for the animals! Bummer about your Homeowner's Insurance! Our health insurance went up, so can identify! :) I imagine your daughter had a fabulous time--I enjoyed hearing you tell about the quetzal flying--he is magnificent, isn't he? Especially in flight. . . Where can I view your photos? Have you posted them yet? Did I miss them somewhere? Please advise! I took about 1000, also! So glad to know someone else is a little snap happy! Thanks again for a lovely report! |
So how was Cano Negro is it worth the day trip?
How does the La Paz has hummingbird and butterfly garden compare to the ones in Monteverde?
We would recommend the Cano Negro day trip--especially if one has an interest in seeing birds and wildlife.
Jsunshinne - Shillmac is right about Cano Negro. As I noted, it was the only time we saw Spider Monkeys. I do hope to see them close and personal on our next trip to the Osa -- I hope....
The butterflies and hummingbirds at LaPaz are great. We didn't have enough time in Monteverde to do much other than the ziplining and night hike...yikes on our foray into the cloud forest. shillmac - My pics are posted at http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slidesho...ty7vn&Ux=1 I aspire to have pics like adamfam...his are spectacular. In the process of planning a March trip to Bosque del Cabo and Lookout Inn. I'm already excited. |
Hey, seawitch1, we're going to be at Bosque del Cabo in March also. . .what are your dates? We'll be there March 11-15. . .spring break for us. Thanks for the photo website. I'll check it out.
We'll be there the nights of 5, 6 and 7. Looks like we'll just miss you. I hear March is the hottest month. We'll see how it compares with the Florida heat and humidity.
You and Shillmac are sooo lucky to be going back so soon. I just checked out your pictures again. They're really great. No, I don't have all 1000 that turned out so good. Also, you can greatly improve your photos with digital imaging software. Do you use such a program? I will be posting a few more pictures tomorrow. Takes so long to download them to Kodak. Oh, well it spreads out the fun.

Diane,
My goodness--what fabulous photos! I lost count of all the ones that should be entered in a contest! And also lost count of all the ones I wanted to tell you I especially liked! The frogs, the flowers, one monkey photo that shows his fingernails (they looked painted!), the birds (SO impressive! The golden hooded tanager was beautiful, and the rufous motmot, and so many others--wow!), the tarantula photos--outstanding. . .your room in Costa Verde II looks identical to the one where our friends stayed. . I know they are all probably identical, but hmmm. . .which room was it? Thank you so much for taking the time to upload ALL of them --I don't know how you could have narrowed it down! Did you take any bad ones?! I had a blast looking at them and oohing and aahing. I'm sure I'll go through again in a day or two and look more closely. Heck, I may order a few for my classroom! |
Wow - what kind of camera were you using, including zoom details.
And where did you see the big spiders?? Hopefully NOT in your hotel!!
