Just Back From Acapulco....

My boyfriend and I just came back from Acapulco. We'd be happy to answer any questions about our stay there.

My husband and I are thinking of going to Acapulco in January. Can you tell me your impressions? I've heard both bad and good. Are the beaches nice? We're thinking of staying at the Radisson. We'd appreciate any thought you can share.

Acapulco is great if you're staying at the Radisson. It is far enough away from the main strip which I find quite disgusting. Acapulco has a newer, much more pleasant area called Diamante. The Radisson is on the way there, and thus well located for the best nightspots, restaurants, etc.

If you're wanting a quiet romantic time, I would suggest going out of the city a few times, towards the airport, or out to Pie de la Cuesta for sunset. Otherwise, the noise, traffic, and revelry that is Acapulco is just way too disturbing.

The beaches are lovely in the Diamante area. The most exclusive beach is called Pichilingue which used to be only accessible by boat or by mansion which opened on to it. (former Mexican President's, rock stars, etc.). I only say Pichilingue as an ideal spot because no one bothers you there and it is beautiful. The other beaches, while lovely have vendors who constantly bombard - or are extremely crowded.

My friends and I are thinking of planning a trip to Acapulco. We are 10 girls in our mid-twenties, do you think it is a bad idea? We are getting mixed reviews, how is the night life? We are looking to have a lot of fun but also do a some site seeing. Do you have any suggestions on where to stay?

Accapulco is great. It has the best nightlife in all of Mexico. The beach sucks, but the nightlife is well worth it.

The nightlife in Acapulco is unmatched. An incredible hotel is the Mayan Palace. Try and check them out for rates. Downtown is a bit scuzzy but you need to go there for the Wall-Mart and McDonalds. The beaches nearer the airport are nice but not at all tropical clear blue water as some may expect.
