June * Rain* Sun* Cancun

Any June Cancun vacationers that can verify if the weather summaries are reasonable? Hilton site says June has 173 mm of rain and only 6 hours of sun a day. This would be depressing if it is true. Can you help us decide if we should re-think a June Cancun vacation?

Thank you.

It does seem to me that June gets more than its share of rain in Cancun. My son went in late May last year, just before Memorial Day, and it rained a lot.

I just spent all of June and most of July in Playa which is 45 min south of Cancun. We had very little rain and most of it was at night. In the entire time I was there it was cloudy and overcast 2 of those days which honestly was ok because the sun starts to get to you after awhile.

Thank you for your input. I am in charge of the vacation and would hate to disappoint the "young adults".

we just went to akumal in mid-june and the forecast was rain every afternoon. it never rained a drop. We heard the week before we were there it was cloudy all the time, but no wind or rain, whereas it was a little windy when we were there. Rained alot in weeks after we were there. It is a crapshoot in June. I feel we lucked out with our weather.

The weather can be different even between Akumal, PDC and Cancun. I had no rain in June during the day but driving south was another story. It changes and you just can't tell.

Last week of June in Akumal was perfect weatherwise. It rained once (overnight).

Much more rain was forecast but it didn't happen :)

Thank you all! We kept our fingers crossed that hurricane, Dean was it, missed Cancun for lots of reasons.

I've been to Rivera Maya area in early June and never had a problem with rain, even when there was forcasted rain before we'd go. However I think there was rain inland. We went on a Mayan Ruin excursion and as we were going back to our resort (in Puerto Morales) it started to rain, but the rain never made it to the coast. It maybe rained once or twice during the night. I've been to the area 4 times, always between May and August and never had more than a bit of rain and it sometimes rains at night.
