Hi hipvirgochcik

I have been okay, just kind of hibernating and reading everyone else's notes.

Waiting for that bank account number or I can e-mail via
FedEx!!

don't bother going on a coffee tour. It's not worth the money in my opinion. I mean, they grow it, pick it, roast it, package it... If I were you I'd forgo the coffee tour and save some $$

Also, anytime you're traveling from one place to another you're spending time and money and not seeing the sights (although traveling in CR can be BEAUTIFUL!) if you can cut out one of those locations and add a few nights to the other locations you can save some $ also

3rdly, if you search Costa Rica hostels you can find some actually nice places with private rooms that are SUPER cheap, but they're safe, clean, etc.

Bluerain- with all due respect I enjoy seeing how it's all done. Coffee, chocolate, whatever, it's a learning experience. Getting from place to place, got that. Not going on coffee tour anyway. Getting from place to place... Understand. Been there a few times and these are the areas I'm going next. Thanks. If you actually have anything to add based on where I'm going I'll take it into consideration.

Sounds like a great trip hip! Nothing to add since I haven't been to most of those areas, but I can't wait to hear about it! I'd love to go back to Tortuguero one day, it was so peaceful on those canals, especially in the morning!

I'm right there with you being overbudget - is there any other way to book a trip?

We did a coffee tour and really loved it; I just like knowing where things come from and how things work. We got to go out into the field and pick the cocoa beans, and seeing the whole process was pretty interesting. The coffee fields are beautiful.

Shell, hope you have fun in Mexico!

Thanks shell - I agree about Tort. I hadn't planned on returning so soon but after I asked shillmac and hubby if they wanted to meet up it seemed like a great idea.

Vgirl - one of these days I will do a coffee tour! Won't have time this trip but might do the chocolate tour from PV which I hear is pretty good. It sound like you'd enjoy that cultural tour with Desafio next time you're around arenal.

Bluerain - sorry about being snippy in my last reply. Something had just happened that I was really miffed about and I think between that and typing on my Iphone I didn't realize how snotty I was.
