Isla Mujeres in August
I have never been to Cancun or Isla Mujeres or Cozumel. Thinking about going to one of these destinations in mid august. Main question is: is it unbearably hot and humid?

I guess my alternative is Hawaii. Any thoughts??

Guess it depends on your tolerance for heat. We go to this area in June or July every year and think it's fine, but then we live in Texas and it's just about as hot here as there. The later you get in the summer, the more likely you are to run into storms//hurricanes, though it seems historically september and october are worse.
The bigger question is what are you looking for out of your vacation. Cancun, Isla and Cozumel are distinctly different destinations despite being so close to each other. Someone who loves one often hates the other.

I found a good site for finding out what the weather is like at any time of the year in cities throughout the world: www.weatherbase.com

Cancun has an average high of 90 degrees and a low of 74 each day in August, according to weatherbase. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have a listing for Isla Mujeres, but I've read elsewhere that it tends to be cooler there than in Cancun.

hi erik,
we spent our vacation this year in Cancun in August, and thought the weather in Cancun delightful. We're from coastal southern California which is cooler, but the ocean breezes in Cancun were very pleasant. Inside, a/c is necessary. Isla Mujeres was MUCH muggier and hotter than the Cancun hotel zone. For me, one afternoon in Isla was plenty, I would not want to base a whole vacation stay there.
ann

I love Isla and the Mayan Coast much more than Hawaii. That said if you are going in August I would recommend Hawaii

I am also considering Isla in August. The previous posts make it sound pretty muggy. Any other opinions? Would Tulum be more comfortable?

Thank you!!
