Is this price reasonable or too high for DC to Argentina: April
Hi all!
As you know I am trying to coordinate my group trip for next year to South America.
I have my regular agent here in the States working on quotes for group fare on airlines. We thought we'd first go in March, but the quotes came back high, the lowest was a little over $1100pp
For departure late April the lowest we found is a little over $1000pp
Reasonable? Can I do better?
We can't wait to book too late( and possibly wait for a sale) because we are group and we need everything set in stone well before the trip.
Thanks a mil....

I fly from GSO . I ended up using miles off a credit card which required ten ff points per dollar of fare. $960 or thereabouts was the actual dollar value flying Delta via ATL. I would have preferred the USAIR/United flight out of DCA but it was in the 1100-1200 range when I got quotes. My trip is in Nov 06.

C:
So this price is not outrageous? I guess I am sooo used to flight to europe on the cheap.
We will most likely not be able to use FF points as we fly as a group and we have to have a group fare. And most of us save our FF for our month long trips elsewhere in year.
Soooo... any more response, but C I trust you know what you are talking about.....

I, too, was surprised by the high fares. I usually travel to Europe for between $400-800, but I also frequently go to Bermuda a mere six hundred miles off the coast and it runs about the same. I figure the same guy who designed the income tax structure sets air fares. If there is a rhyme or reason, I don't get it.

We could have paid around $760 RT on American (direct flight) last March (booked air in Sept.) in coach, but opted to pay full fare coach ($1400 PP RT) and used miles to upgrade to BC. So, with the fuel charges, etc., it sounds about right. What you pay extra in airfare, you'll save on meals, etc. once you are down there. The daily costs will be so much more reasonable than Europe.

Wow! Gas prices apparently are considerably escalating prices. Last November we flew from SFO to EZE via MIA for $835.70 apiece with American Airlines. Hope you can find something less expensive Tripgirl.
