Is this a place for Spring Breakers?

I was wondering if anyone knew if the Tamarindo area is a good place for a group of college seniors to go on vacation to get away from the "typical" spring break spot? But we also wanted to know if there was a good nightlife in Tamarindo? Any suggestions??? Thanks so much!

It might not be the "typical" spring break spot, but it's a party town and draws a party crowd, so there are more drugs, hookers, and crime here than in some of the quieter eco-tour locations. Jaco's a party town too.

p.s. You need to make reservations NOW. Spring break is their busiest time and many hotels are already booked.

Thank you Sandy,

We rented a beach house for 12... 5 min from downtown Tamarindo and right on the beach. We are traveling with half girls and half guys and the boys were just worried that this is only a spot for beaching and sunning. Do you know of any specific bars, clubs, restaurants that we should be sure to visit??

Thanks!

Tamarindo is about surfing and the beach. If you aren't interested in that, you may want to keep looking.

Tamarindo is definately young but it's a small, small burg and the nightlife isn't exactly banging. "Yucca" at the Hotel Pasatiempo on Wednesday nights has a live band and dancing - they may increase the activity level at spring break. Jaco is definately more of a party town, but a lot tamer than a typical spring break destination.

Sorry, that should be TUESDAY nights!

The Mambo bar at the circle in Tamarindo is a good party spot. The bar at the Best Western has a good party on Monday nights as well
