Is it safe to have drinks with ice at resorts such as Camion Real in Puerto Vallarta?

Hi--
I have heard that we should stay away from water and ice in Mexico. I would love to have a margarita though. Are they safe to consume at the resorts in Puerto Vallarta? We are staying at the Camino Real. Thanks. Mary

That may be true in some parts of Mexico but not in Puerto Vallarta. Our water has passed International Standards for 7 years running. All the ice is purified as well. The Camino Real also treats all it's water. Drink away!

Mary: Despite all warnings about the water in Mexico, I have to be honest..too much alcohol, sun, different foods, lack of sleep, etc...will wreak havoc on stomach. I, personally, can tell you, that if you are staying at the Camino Real (or any other well-known resort), that you should encounter no problems. I'm from Chicago, enjoy to party & down the margaritas..have been to various areas of Mexico at least 15 times (P. Vallarta 3 x and love it--very authentic!)....as J.R. said, you should have no problems...you will love P.R.!!

I wouldn't worry about the Camino, one of the best hotels in PV. I have stayed there and loved it. After having been to PV many times, we order blended drinks at the hotels and restaurants, but to be cautious drink bottled water when there is a choice. I don't eat/drink at roadside stands. Have fun!
The drinks are safe at virtually every nice hotel and restaurant anywhere in PV. I've had Margaritas at La Quebrada (Le Kliff) way down on the South end, and all over. If you go way out into a village or something remote like that, perhaps just order a bottled drink. But really, as mentioned above, PV does have the purest water system in Mexico. Have a wonderful trip.

We had no problems with ice in our drinks anywhere in the "touristy" areas of PV. We even had ice cream from an ice cream shop on the downtown waterfront (something that a few years ago would have been asking for trouble).

If you haven't seen it yet, you might want to take a look at my review of PV on Epinions.com (there is a link to my photos on webshots.com within the article).
The Epinions URL is:
http://www.epinions.com/content_30322626180

Enjoy your trip. PV is terrific.

Ken

?
I've been eating icecream here for 22 years, never ever a problem.

We stayed at the Blue Bay Getaway. The ice is purified water, bottled water supplied in rooms and refilled at the bars. We had no problem with drinks or food. Have fun!
