That map is pretty interesting. DH and I recently went to Cozumel and at first we were very concerned about safety but we never had any problems.

Peg, I think you should go, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than Hawaii and there is so much to do. Not to speak against Hawaii, we were in Kauai in September and we loved it. But Mexico gives you a lot more for your money.

its probably not necessary to be concerned about safety issues in an area that has only minimal or no safety issues

I've been here in Guanajuato for about a month now where the safety experience has been the same as my 30 or so previous trips to Mexico. Totally safe, friendly & inviting.
Wish I could say the same about some of my US travels.
