Is it dangerous to drive from Tabacon Hot springs to Lost Iguana in the dark?

Is it a far drive?

We are definitely thinking of spending 1 evening at Tabacon hot springs with an evening pass (7pm to 10pm I think)...but then it will be dark when we drive back to Lost Iguana...

I haven't finalized my reservations yet...do you think I should stay in Tabacon Resort for 1 night to avoid the night time drive?

Is there a shuttle or something to LI or how much would a taxi be?

gailching - Tabacon is short drive to Lost Iguana. I don't think it would be a problem to drive that in the dark. A taxi would be a cheap ride. You might want to e-mail LI to see if they run a shuttle back and forth. I thought I saw somewhere that they did at certain times during the day, although we did not utilize that service.

I think you would be okay with this drive. Drive around a bit in the day-time first to become familiar with things when you arrive. We drove from Lost Iguana to Ecotermales (smaller hot springs) in the evening and returned in the dark and felt it was safe.

Great. THanks for the advice.

When we stayed at the Lost Iguana, we drove to El Novillo (just past Tabacon) for dinner at 8 pm and back to the hotel after 10 pm. We didn't have any trouble. Just drive at a reasonable speed and make sure you pay attention when you drive through during the day so you can remember where to find things at night.

If you are going to Tabacon, I highly recommend having dinner at El Novillo first. The steaks were excellent and cheap ($7-8) and the view of the lava flowing down the volcano was fabulous.
