Is a Rio guide necessary?

Husband and I will be spending a few days in Rio, and aren't sure if we should hire a guide for a day or two. We've avid travellers, having travelled to many countries in Asia, Mid-East, Europe, Africa, so doing things on our own isn't intimidating. However, for a city like Rio, would you recommend it? Thanks

Everybody has a different opinion but the sights of Rio are very easy to get to or you can hook up with a tour through your hotel.

it all depends what you want to do, if you just want sugar loaf and the statue, they can be done by car, if you want the sambodrome, maracana, the historical city centre etc then I would say yes it's a good idea, saves time and you'll get much more out of it, and it'll be safer , espec in centre. If you need any recommendations please ask

I agree for the two days you are there, get a guide and you will learn more and get to places faster.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. What is the approx range per day for a guide?

hiya, do you want just a guide or a guide with a car too? You can book a half day, 6 hours or 8. Do you want to know prices for transfers too?
