Is 5 days in Tulum enough time?

My H & I will be in Tulum for 6 nights, 5 days.. we're starting to wonder if this is enough time... I checked & we could change our flight to stay 9 nights (8 full days) for a pretty reasonable price. We plan on spending a day at Chichen Itza, snorkeling and just mainly relaxing on the beach. Any input is appreciated! =)

Yes, that's enough time. That gives you four days to relax, because the Chichen Itza trip will take a full day.

I always vote for more time if you can swing it. If you can buy an extra few days you could stay longer in Tulum or check out other areas.

Here's our route this June: +/- week in Tulum, a few nights each in Valladolid (to visit Chichén Itzá and Ek Balam) and San Felipe (tarpon fishing and flamingos), then to Isla Mujeres for a few days before my husband heads home and I head to Chiapas for a few weeks of Spanish study. I'll post a trip report - hope you do, too!
