Interbus Reservations

The Interbus website shows that you need to have reservations to use their services. It mentiones that full payment is due 60 days prior to departure date. We are leaving next week and need to figure this out.

Can we have our hotel book the interbus from san juan to Monteverde? Can you make reservations for Interbus without paying upfront?? What is the customary way you book all this?

sorry - i mean san jose to monteverde.

And then monteverde to La Fortuna.

And then La Fortuna to the airport.

I would just go ahead and make the reservations yourself. They will send you a confirmation and availability and then you proceed to their website to make the payment. The only way you'd have trouble with the 60 day thing is if they are booked, and I'm sure they'll be able to accomodate you.

I don't know if they have a transfer directly to the airport from Fortuna. Maybe the do. If not, you can get off at Garden Court and taxi to airport from there.

They will pick you up/drop you off at the Garden Court hotel, which is just a few minutes and a couple dollars away from the airport. The 60 days means that if you reserved say 6 months in advance, your payment is due 60 days before arrival, it doesn't mean you can't make reservations less than 60 days out. I would go ahead and make reservations now thru their website just to make sure you have seats.

Is the Garden Hotel the same as the Marriot? We are staying at the Marriot in Alajuela.

Also, I am having trouble booking online because they are only allowing you to select Nov 30, 2007. It is not showing dates for December.

So I wrote to them, hopefully they will get back to me soon.

Do you know if you have to pay in full upfront? I read someone mentioned they gave their CC and paid cash when they got there only to find that the got charged on their card as well!

luv -- Garden Court is either same as, or right next to Hampton Suites. It should be on the Interbus list. Hopefully they'll get back to you. I paid in full from home and I'm pretty sure that's required.

I'm departing from Fortuna to go straight to the airport and choose FORTUNA to RIO SEGUNDO, which allows the drop down option of Juan Santamiria Intl Airport, does this mean from Interbus from arenal drop you at the Airport?

Isn't Interbus a semi customized van, on their website you select pick up and drop off hotels, i assume that means they pick you up and drop you off in front of each selected location (which can include airport) if selected?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

nkadakia -- Yes, they pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. I couldn't remember if they had a SJO drop-off, but it appears they do. Have a great trip!

What is wrong with Interbus website? It has no options available in the Month drop down box. Therefore you cannot book Intervus travel past november 30th, 2007.

How are others booking reservations with them from outside Costa Rica?

You're right. That's wierd! I would just send them an e-mail telling them what you want so they can confirm with you. During the first process you don't pay for anything anyway, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and then go back to website to pay.
