Inexpensive Buenos Aires Tour Guide
Hi All,
I'll be arriving in Buenos Aires on Sept. 3rd and I'm in the market for an inexpensive tour guide for my first day. I'm a female traveling alone and I'd feel more with someone to just to show me the highlights and give shopping and restaurant tips. Any suggestions? Thanks! |
Check out www.indepth.com.ar
My best friend from high school has been a European tour guide for years. He ives in Buenos Aires and gives day tours when he's there. Trips are around $15. |
Thanks for the web address...your friend's site looks very interesting.

Get in touch with Cicerones de Buenos Aires (http://www.cicerones.org.ar/en/). One the website you fill out a questionnaire listing your interests and what parts of town you're most interested in touring, and you will be matched with one (or two) of the volunteer guides. Ask for Claudia and/or Maria Celia as your guide, they were very friendly and had a wealth of information to share about BA.

personal attention to all tourists coming to Argentina.

Ah, wish I had known about the Cicerones a couple of months ago...I traveled around a lot of the city by myself just fine and had a great time, but I didn't particularly want to go to La Boca by myself, and couldn't really find the right, inexpensive way to do it...this would have been perfect!

There are lots of guides in the city and also reliable companies that organize tours. You did right not to go alone in the evening but every Saturday and sunday there are hundreds of tourists who go on their own and up to now nothing has happened. You ve got to be careful in all places you dont know but missing a place like that was really a shame. Of course locals recommend tourists they should be accompanied mainly because it is better to know a place together with sb. who can show you the good spots.
That is what the guides do. They give you info about the place to make the visit complete. We also recommend them they should try to avoid isolated or dark places, here in BA or anywhere else |
