Ilha Grande Where to stay?

Can anyone recommend accommodation on Ilha Grande? Is it better to be in the town or further out?

hi, when are you going, who's going (ie age group), what are your interests ? do you want to be close to nightlife ? Let me know what you want and i'll recommend some places, also how much do you want to spend ?

Thanks for the reply. We are going in April. My husband and I are 56/60 (I'm the young one!!!), love to snorkel, swim , kayak etc. Need aircon and a clean quiet room. Price not too important..just don't like to be ripped off. Also enjoy good food. Hope that sums us up!

hi, check out caicara, lovely and right on sea front, and naturalia, up a small hill, but lovely views, nice owners, lovely hotel. Id recommend staying nearer to town, easier to get the boats to do tours, to get the ferry there and back, more restaurant options etc.

Thanks so much, gypsyluce! Both look awesome...the caicarapousada was full but we have a booking at the pousadanaturalia. Now perhaps you could recommend somewhere equally nice in Paraty and Buzios. You seem to know exactly the kind of place we like!!!

hi, once again depends on if you want a hotel on the beach - hotel le relais de la borie,
http://www.laborie.com.br/
in Buzios I mean, or nearer to the centre of town. In the centre Casas Brancas is nice, pay a bit extra and get a nicer room than the standard,

or perola.

On te beach would mean cathcing a txi at night to restaurants etc, there's not much available nearby, and if you wanted other beaches also. If you stay in centre you don't have a beach really close by but you have everything else near.
As for Parati, no contest, stay at Sandhi. It's lovely, well located, great restaurants nearby etc.

have a look and let me know what else I can help you with.

Thanks for all your trouble and for all those different recommendations. I have looked at all of them but they are all a bit over our budget. Thanks so much for your help!

hi, sorry about that ! I'll try and remember some more reasonably priced and will let you know. Have fun
