If you've ziplined...?

If you've ziplined, would you do it again? Where did you go, and what did you like and dislike about it?

Yes and yes. Ziplined at Selvatura, Rincon de la Vieja and near the Rio Pacuare.

I liked the speed and the thrill and the views of course. I've considered taking a hot-air balloon ride to see the land from above (but I hadn't planned for the expense) so ziplining was another way to accomplish that except that of course, you're traveling within the canopy instead of soaring above it.

I would rather every tour operator who runs a zipline install a brake for all the lines so that no matter how uncoordinated you are, you'll still manage to brake gracefully. Some operators had it and some didn't. And I would rather they all installed a separate device you can hold onto rather than having to keep one hand behind your head and behind the wheel on the cable as it would make one feel less concerned about spinning.

Plus you won't really have the time to take any photographs as you'll be going far to fast to focus on anything. And I've yet to see any creature hanging around near a zipline.

I also preferred ziplining from one platform to another as opposed to the occasional hike from one platform to the next but that's just a wee little thing.

We have ziplined twice. The first time was in Puerto Vallarta and it was fantastic!! I am not keen on heights, but I just did it and enjoyed it.

We also did it in Arenal at Sky Trek. We had a cold, rainy and miserable time. We should have cancelled, but oh well. We only saw clouds and were very cold. I couldn't wait to be done. From all reports, we missed out on some fabulous views. The upside is that afterwards, we headed to Eco Termales for lunch and a nice warm soak!!

If you have a nice day, don't put it off and do your zipline.

We did our zipline at the Original Canopy Tour in Monteverde. It wasn't as thrilling as I thought it might be, but it was fun, and I was glad we did it. We liked the repel portion a lot - very fast and fun. I think it was a great zipline for beginners, not too high or scary. We tried to go at Sky Trek in Arenal but they had to cancel on us due to a thunderstorm and lots of lightning.

I couldn't believe it, but when we were on a platform in Monteverde, we were eye to eye with a quetzal - that was very cool.

I went at Arenal Paraiso with 11 platforms, it was raining for most of it so the lines were extremely fast (according to the guides).

I loved the sensation of flying through the air, through the fogs and clouds. I liked that we went platform-to-platform so were always way above the ground, didn't mind the height issue at all.

What I didn't like was that I had trouble braking on all the upper runs. Only on the last three (that were lower and more lateral) did I stop successfully on my own, without slamming into automatic stopper with my body flinging through the air.

Would I do it again? Maybe - depending on the braking system and weather - but would never go again in the rain. Do they have a zipline for wimps? :-))

Did so twice--once above the waterfall at Montezuma and once with Titi Canopy.

The best part? Hard to single anything out, but the adrenaline and the feeling of freedom when you're in the air are pretty cool. I could definitely feel myself walk with a little more swagger between platforms than I did before.

Oh, seeing monkeys right above my head was cool for Titi Canopy tour--as was the sighting of a spider monkey leading a troop of white-faced monkeys. Taking a dip in the pool above the Montezuma waterfall was also really cool.

Have zipped with Canopy Safari, Mal Pais Canopy, Poas del Colinas and SkyTrek. Absolutely would I go again, although right before my first time I didn't think so!

I too disliked walking from one to another, much prefer platform to platform. Not a huge deal, but I disliked on SkyTrek the wind turning me sideways often.

I loved the rapels at Canopy Safari, the views & height at SkyTrek, and at Poas loved that it was just us, our driver & the guide. Also loved the great breakfast at Canopy Safari and the great sense of fun the guides had, SkyTrek too.

The one we went on in Arenal had quite a bit of hiking uphill. I didn't know that platform to platform even existed. That said, I thought it was probably as good as it gets as far as the length of the lines and because they were super high up, way up. It also started raining toward the end so as colobri said, it got really fast. I'm glad I did it, but I don't have a huge desire to do it again. It would probably be a spur of the moment decision.

We zipped in Arenal with SkyTrek five days ago - it was a blast. I have to say that being a bit spooked by heights, I was nervous about this adventure but wasn't about to let the family do it without me. I am so glad I went! The half-mile, 50 mph line was a real rush. We had great weather and the scenery was awesome. I never thought I'd enjoy it as much as I did. In addition, we all thought the tram right up was fun. It was quiet, relaxing and scenic, and were even greeted with a fruit drink when we arrived a the top. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again!
