Ideas

First I have been having trouble emailing David Choque at [email protected] anyone know if he is still working as a guide?

Secondly, we arrive on Fri.a.m.into Cusco and thought we would not stay there initially to adjust to the altitude more slowly. We want to be in Pisac on Sun.What suggestion does anyone have for where to go for Fri. and Sat.

Where can I find a map showing distances and locations of various sites from Cusco...MP, Urumbamba, Ollay.....

you might want to try Chincheros ; I believe it is lower in altitude and has a lovely market where i was able to buy older textiles years ago

enjoy

Re David -- have you had any contact with him at all or is this your first attempt? We had arranged everything with him and before we were leaving for Peru I did email him and did not hear back which made me nervous. I emailed again and his son, I believe, got back to me that he was on a tour somewhere, but would be meeting us as arranged. I have these phone numbers for him.

From Cusco u could go to Ollantaytambo and drive to Pisac from there--perhaps about an hours drive. We loved Ollantaytambo--its a charming village.

When is the Chinchero market? 3 nights in Ollay.... would not be too much? One day in Ollay...another ? and the third in Pisac? Is it worth staying in Pisac on Sunday night after market?

Have u been able to reach David Choque?

We spent a day and night in Pisac, not on Sunday, but the market is up everyday. We wanted to see the ruins which are fantastic. Pisac is very small and laid back. We enjoyed an overnight there, but certainly could have just as easily visited it from some place else.

We spent 3 nights in Ollantaytambo and did not feel it was too much time. One of the days was a visit to MP from Ollantaytambo. Its a lovely village, lots of hiking around it, some ruins and it can be used as a base to visit Pisac and other towns in the SV. Really depends upon what your interests are and what you want to see.
