Hyatt Regency Hotel, Cancun

Has anyone stayed at the Hyatt Regency? Comments please on location, pool, cleanliness, drinks, food, etc. I know it does not have a beach. Also when is spring break this year?

In Mexico Travel Book, AAA, 2002: First 3 words in describing Hyatt Regency, "On the Beach".....

I called Hyatt Hotels....they related that the beach area in the front of the hotel has washed away......will take you to the Hyatt Caribe less than 5 minutes away on shuttle, which is provided.....also understand thru others that beach is public; can go anywhere you want.......

For the money, I'd stay at one of the two Marriott properties andshoot for one that gives you the breakfast buffet in the room rate.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency last May. It is close to major shopping, eating and drinking places so the location is good. Also has a nice pool area - actually 2 pools on different levels. The place is very clean and well maintained. We went out to eat and bought our own drinks, so can't comment on that. You are right about no beach, but they will take you down to the Hyatt Caribe which has a nice beach area. Our only gripe was that the Regency was rather loud at the pool, blasting rap type music. The Caribe was quieter and played Latin music in the background. Our stay was free using Hyatt points - I chose the Regency because it took fewer points. If we go again, we will probably stay at the Regency again and just take the shuttle down to the Caribe when we want to lay out by the pool.

I have stayed 3 of the last 4 years at the Royal Resorts. Both the Royal Sands and the Royal Carribean. They are far and away the best places to stay in Cancun. Most ammenities are free, including sailboats and tennis racquets with balls. Look them up at www.Royalresorts.com
