Hurricane Season

My husband and I would like to plan a trip to Ixtapa in late July. Is this a good time to go? I am not sure when the hurricane season starts. If it might be a pretty good chance of one, we will go somewhere else. Any info would be great.
thanks

july is the beginning of the hurricane season. It does peak in Sept so July is better than sept. I went once on a windjammer sailing trip, in early sept, and didn`t know why the boat was so empty. I found out, when a hurricane hit. Are you prepared for the heat at that time of the year?

Pat,
Thanks for the reply, how hot are we talking?? I thought it would be around 85 or 90, is that correct?
I don't mind the heat, anyway, thanks again for the help

weather.com gives the average high in july to be 89, and the low 76. If you don`t mind that then you will be OK. That`s a little too hot for me, so we are going in late Nov.

The summer temps are not that much higher BUT the humidity is much higher. So A/C is a must. Also keep in mind that that is the height of the Mexican National tourist season. So while a bit busy it is an interesting time with lots of opportunities to meet locals. Most of the good restaurants are open except for a few mostly over priced ones that cater to American tourists.
