Hurricane repairs in Cancun

We're thinking of taking a week to visit Cancun in June and want to stay at the Marriott CasaMagna because a good deal is available. They are closed at the moment because of HUrrican Wilma, but taking reservations starting on the 1st of June. Anyone been in the area lately with any comments to share?

Also, we're not the expensive dining types--any cheaper restaurants and/or little grocery stores in the area to grab quick snacks and such?

hi,
I'm planning on going in August; I'd take a chance with June...
Marriott Casa Magna sometimes offers an all inclusive package...go to www.offshoreresorts.com
Cancun will probably not be 100% until 2007, but it is recovering every day, and Cancun at 70% is still a lot better than most places, IMO!!!

I went ahead and made the reservation. Called Marriott and they said they were actualyl hacing first guersts return in February 2006. With us going in June, I figure we'd be ok. Said the beach was nearly restored. Also have a student (teacher here) who just returned from Christmas break and stayed just a short hike from the Casa Magna and said it looked good to him, but some trees and such were broken off nearby. There were some guests there when he saw it. I agree-- warm beach, warm ocean, warm sun-- I'll talke it!
