I travel to the tropics during hurricane season because I can't stand being away from Belize for more than about 3-4 months at a time. Hence, a summer/fall trip is a 'necessity'. I'm sure one of these times plans will have to change, but, we've enjoyed our summer/fall trips to Belize. Leaving again in three weeks....

Have a great time Jean. I'm off to Playa in three weeks as well. And then again in October. Hopefully in Nov. if the airfare comes down as well. But if it was my only vacation of the year I might think twice about my timing or at least trip insurance.

I just read a press release from AM resorts that run Dreams, Secrets and Sunscape. Dreams Tulum, which is basically next door to the Tulum ruins (and a wonderful resort - we were there in June) was the nearest to Dean but had only minor damage. They will reopen this Saturday the 25th after clean up. All the others are operational and the guests of Dreams Tulum will be hosted by Dreams Cancun in the meantime. That is real good news.

Have not heard about Azul Blue, just south of the ruins, or any of the smaller eco-resorts that are around there.

Wonder how many hurricanes the ruins at Tulum have seen and if any damage has ever been caused? Weird question, but I'm on an endless conference call and my mind wonders.....
