How readily available are ATMs in Isla Mujeres and Cancun?
We are used to using ATMS everywhere in Europe and not having to take alot of foreign currency with us when we go. Will this work landing in Cancun and going on to Isla Mujeres? (We happen to have a few pesos already, but not many.)

I've never been to Cancún except passing through to the airport so can't help there. On Isla Mujeres we rented a little apartment a block north of the parque central; there's a nice grocery store across the street with an ATM machine inside. You shouldn't have a problem finding one.
We've visited the region twice in the last 8 months; photos, blog, and travelogues below. Happy trails!

I was watching for the answer to this as well. I only know Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, La Paz & there are ATM's everywhere those towns. I'd assume the same for Cancun but I really don't know for sure.

They are literally all over the place and in the hotels as well. You will see HSBC, which charges a reasonable fee for the transaction as well as Banco Santander. There are others, but I do suggest using bank-owned ATMs.
