How much time for Uxmal?

I'm trying to decide between spending half a day at Uxmal and taking the Ruta Puuc route. I've heard that the Ruta Puuc route is good, but too rushed and that you don't get enough time at Uxmal. Is it worth it to be rushed through Uxmal to see the smaller ruins? I need some advice from those of you who have been there.

We were in Mexico last year and I would recommend seeing some of the smaller sites. Uxmal is certainly impressesive but the smaller sites...Labna was my favourite...give you a sense for the vast number of different cities and ceremmonial centers. While Uxmal is fairly busy with lots of hotels nearby, some of the smaller sites are almost deserted. I'd recommend the Cadogan's guide which is very detailed.
We also loved Calakmul which has enormous pyramids overlooking the treetops like Tikal...but that's alot further south.
Hope that helps.

Personally I think Uxmal requires AT LEAST 1/2 day - a full day is even better. The site is extensive with a lot to see.
