How much does a guide cost at Manuel Antonio?
 

I have been reading that you can hire a guide as you enter Manuel Antonio. Can someone give me an idea of how long you should have a guide and how much it might cost?

We were just in MA last month. The guide we went with gave us the option of paying 30$ per person for just the 3 of us, or said that we could wait for a larger group to assemble, and pay 25$. We opted for the 30$ and he spent about 2 hours escorting us around the park. He did a really terrific job finding animals and explaining about the ecosystem. It was a 30$ well spent in my opinion! We did also include a tip at the end of our tour. I think we gave him about 5$ per person because he was very knowledgeable and personable.

I think it is definitely worthwhile, if not necessary, to have a guide for MA. Ours had a scope on a tripod and we were able to see critters, in trees and on the ground, which we would never had found, or seen, without him. We could even take pictures through the scope.

Just returned from CR.We met people in MA that left their tour becaus of boredom.Save your money and take your own binoculars, all you have to do is look where everyone is pointing.On one occassion one of the guides asked me to point out an animal to him!

We hired a guide in Manuel Antonio named Henry. Our driver Oscar set it up. He was excellent, I posted his number on an earlier post. He charged us 25 per person and we saw so much..plus he has a great personality.

Having a guide at Manuel Antonio is going to be to your advantage 95% of the time--or something like that! :)

We've done it twice with guides and they were excellent both times. I'm sure that occasionally the experience is less than stellar, but usually they do a fabulous job of pointing stuff out. With the scopes they carry, you can get some nice views and good photography.
