How long to spend in Santiago Chile

My girlfriend, cousin and i will be travelling to south america on our way to europe next summer (southern hemp) we have only two weeks there and plan on going to Rio, Buenos Aires and the Beaches of Urugay! We fly in through Santiago in Chile (only place Qantas flys from oz) and my question is how long would people advise to spend there with our limited itinerary? thanks in advance

Two weeks won't be enough for 4 countries. I'd skip Uruguay - why going to beaches there if you plan to go to Rio? Stay 2-3 days in Santiago (one for the city and one to visit the vineards and surrounding cities like Vina del Mar). 4-5 days in Buenos Aires for nice culture, food and museums. 5-6 days in Rio for beaches, nightlife, relaxing and shopping. You'll find the better prices in Rio so keep your shopping for Brazil.

I'm going with a friend to Rio, Iguazu Falls, Buenos Aires and Santiago. We were planning on staying 3 days in Rio, but I'm noticing everyone is suggesting more time in Rio. Will the 3 days be enough and is spending more time in Rio more worthwile than time in Punta del Este?

I would say that you have much more to do and to see in Rio in comparisson to Punta del Leste.
