How do I book an all-inclusive resort in Cancun?

Hi:

We are planning on visiting Cancun in mid-February 2011 before the spring breakers hit the beaches. I will be staying in an all-inclusive resort in Cancun. To get a better deal, should I book directly through the resort or are there other Web sites that you can recommend?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hi! Sometimes hotel web sites have an 'early special' or 'best available' rate. You should definately compare prices between the hotel web site and Expedia, and sometimes Vayama knocks the price down a bit.

We've been going to that area for 10 years. I always use Orbitz or Travelocity. They have the best prices from our departure airport.

Orbitz has a site with listed promo codes. 200ENTERTAIN will get you $200 off a 7 night package. 75ORBITZ will get you $75 off a 3-6 night package. These codes are not always consistant, but here's their site for new and/or available codes:

For other sites to compare prices, look at cheapcaribbean.com and beachdestinations.com

We just booked our December trip for Playa del Carmen and ended up using Travelocity this time. They had more hotel selections than Orbitz and their airport tranfers were cheaper than Orbitz. $80 compared to $122. Made the price less expensive even with Orbitz's promo codes.

Just so you are not surprised, I'd like to mention that you will not entirely "beat" the college students by going to Mexico in mid-February (instead of going in March). Canadian universities (colleges) have what is called "reading week" in mid-February, and it is sort of the equivalent of spring break. The students head south by the thousands during that week, and Cancun is one of their primary destinations.

Also Costco has (supposed) discounts to some resorts.
